| Syllabus: | This unit is designed for those students who have studied Mathematics 3C/D or equivalent. The unit covers: Functions and their graphs: derivative of power, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions; Application of the derivative; Integration: techniques of integration, the definite integral and applications, Simpson's rule for numerical integration. Applications of the above techniques are related to medical imaging. The unit also includes introductory Probability and Statistics: Basic descriptive statistics, normal and binomial distributions. |
