Course Overview
Bachelor Double Degrees prepare students to develop broad and coherent knowledge and skills in more than one discipline for professional work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 7 qualifications.
Students choosing this double degree can combine a Bachelor of Engineering together with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Management, Economics, Finance or Accounting. This double degree course is designed to prepare students who graduate as engineers with an excellent background in commerce which may broaden their future opportunities as engineering managers in their respective organisations in either public or private sectors.The program equips graduates with a comprehensive technical foundation together with business knowledge and skills in areas that are relevant and widely interrelated with engineering. The combination of the two degrees can provide graduates with the versatility to seek wider opportunities in the developing engineering industry.

The following majors within this course are accredited in Australia and internationally by Engineers Australia: MDDU-CCENG Civil and Construction Engineering Double Degree Major (BEng/BCom); MDDU-MCENG Mechanical Engineering Double Degree Major (BEng/BCom); MDDU-CHENG Chemical Engineering Double Degree Major; MDDU-MTENG Metallurgical Engineering Double Degree Major; MDDU-MINEN Mining Engineering Double Degree Major.
Graduates of the following majors in Australia may be eligible for membership of the Institute of Public Accountants: MDDU-ACENG Accounting Double Degree Major (BEng/BCom). Graduates of the following majors in Australia and New Zealand may be eligible for associate membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand: MDDU-ACENG Accounting Double Degree Major (BEng/BCom). Graduates of the following majors in Australia may be eligible for associate membership of CPA Australia: MDDU-ACENG Accounting Double Degree Major (BEng/BCom) [including the completion of Introduction to Australian Tax Law (TAXA2000) and Auditing, Assurance and Risk Management (ACCT3000)]. Graduates of the following majors in Western Australia may be eligible for membership of the Economic Society of Australia (WA Branch): MDDU-ECOSE Economics Double Degree Major (BEng/BCom).

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Bachelor Double Degree are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/ and include flexible entry pathways. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Applicants require an ATAR=80; Mathematics Methods ATAR; at least one of the following: Physics ATAR, Chemistry ATAR, Engineering Studies ATAR. Desirable: Mathematics Specialist ATAR. STAT is not accepted for mature age entry but may be used to demonstrate English Competence requirements.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Course Switcher Criteria
Curtin course switcher criteria To switch into this course, you need to have: attained an ATAR of 80 and met the prerequisites; or if you have studied Maths Applications or equivalent: completed 75 credits within one semester, with a semester weighted average (SWA) of 70%; or completed 100 credits within one semester with an SWA of 65% or higher, plus any unit/s assessed as comparable to Maths Methods ATAR and Physics ATAR or Chemistry ATAR; or if you have studied Maths Methods or equivalent: completed 75 credits within one semester with an SWA of 65%; or completed 100 credits within one semester with an SWA of 60% or higher, plus any unit/s assessed as comparable to Maths Methods ATAR, AND Physics ATAR or Chemistry ATAR. The Maths Methods prerequisite can be met with: Maths Methods ATAR; or MATH1014 Foundations of Calculus or higher unit. The Physics prerequisite can be met with: Physics ATAR; or PHYS1006 Foundations of Physics or higher unit. The Chemistry prerequisite can be met with: Chemistry ATAR; or CHEM1003 Introduction to Chemistry or higher unit. Course Organisation
Bachelor Double Degrees include a combined degree study program leading to two awards. The duration of the double degree may vary among disciplines, but typically requires less time to complete than if the two undergraduate degrees were studied separately. Students can take no more than 250 credit points of first year level units.

Duration and Availability
This course is five and a half years full-time or equivalent part-time study. All majors in this course are available to international students studying in Australia on a study visa.
